I stumbled upon this article a few days ago and found it to be an interesting read. It brings up some very interesting points about streaming, vinyl, and compact discs.

After reading it, I found that I really don't fit in any of the categories listed in the article. While I had a large collection of CDs at one point, I burned my entire collection to a hard drive (mostly for the same reason the author lost his appreciation for vinyl... it's difficult to move!) and now go to a handful of SITES to find (and download) music. What I've found most interesting about my experience is that I'm now more willing to try something outside of my comfort zone... if I don't like it, I'm merely out the time it took to download and listen. In a way, what I do is the hybrid between streaming and physical CDs, and I can admit that I now have many items in my collection that I enjoy, but never would have spent the money to give it a try otherwise.

A friend of mine is celebrating his birthday today, and for years, I didn't believe it when he told me there was a group by the name of C.C.C.P. Now, the biggest reason for my disbelief was because no matter where I looked, I couldn't find any of their music. Well, all that changed just a couple years ago when I finally found the American Soviets single on a website.

Every time I hear the Jackson 5 version of Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, I'm reminded of my trip to England in December 1994. I was there (at the now closed RAF Lyneham) 10 days for a court martial. We spent a day and a half doing what we were there to do, then had 8 free days to run around England. It seemed as though everywhere we went, be it the pub, a shop, or even in the hotel lobby, we heard this song... and it seemed as though we heard it every 15 minutes! It seemed rather annoying, but quickly became a joke amongst the good folks I was there with.
