I thought I'd go with something completely different for the album of the week...
Zydeco is a music genre that evolved in southwest Louisiana by French Creole speaking people. It blends blues, rhythm & blues, and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and Native American people of Louisiana. It is usually very uptempo music with a strong rhythmic core normally centered around the accordion and washboard.
I first got a taste of this music via a St. Louis band called the Zydeco Crawdaddies. I also had a friend that let me borrow this very CD, and I've appreciated this style of music ever since as it's just fun music to listen to.
This CD offers a nice introduction to the style of music with many classics and great artists of the genre represented.
Give it a shot, and enjoy!
